Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is undeniably one of the most prominent personalities in modern news.  However, according to recent reports, Carlson’s departure from Fox News was hardly a setback for the host. A new poll found he is the most popular individual Americans trust and follow for news.

According to recent research, Americans have increasingly lost their trust in news media,  among other public institutions.  In turn, Americans are turning to individuals who they trust to get their news.  People are seeking to become informed by individuals on the basis of personality and trust.

Polling found that 90 percent follow at least one public individual as a source of news and information.  Furthermore, it asked individuals to state which individual they follow the most often for their news, which featured a wide array of different responses.  However, Tucker Carlson topped this list as the most popular.

“Carlson topped a list included in a new Gallup survey of leading news media figures and entertainment personalities as part of a survey in which respondents were asked who they trusted most to provide them the news,” the report said.  Behind Tucker was Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity.  Notably, Barack Obama was dead last on the list, and Anthony Fauci was the third from last.

“Carlson had 113 mentions, followed by MSNBC host Rachel Maddow (107) and then Fox News pundit Sean Hannity (57), who was tied with former Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah. NBC News anchor Lester Holt placed highest among non-opinion journalists, placing seventh with 55 mentions,” according to the survey.

Another recent poll discovered

that Tucker Carlson is more popular than Fox News and is the most popular figure among conservative and Republican voters.  The latest Rasmussen report found that “59% of Likely U.S. voters have a favorable impression of Carlson, including 36% who have a Very Favorable opinion of him. Thirty-four percent (34%) view Carlson unfavorably, including 25% with a Very Unfavorable impression.”

Tucker Carlson was undoubtedly the driving force behind Fox News’ recent dominance in the cable news market.  Backing this assertion, ratings at the cable news channel have tanked following Carlson’s exit.  The American Tribune recently reported on Fox News Channel losing its 120-week winning streak in ratings to woke MSNBC.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh weighed in on the news stating, “For 120 straight weeks, Fox News was the most-watched cable news network in primetime. Its main competitors, MSNBC and CNN, never came close. In the key advertising demographic — people between the ages of 25 and 54 — Fox News was the undisputed leader.”

Some have even asserted that Tucker Carlson is now more powerful as a single individual with a social media platform than when he was the most popular host at Fox News.  It only takes a couple of hours for one of Tucker Carlson’s Twitter-exclusive episodes to hit multi-millions of views, leaving Fox News in the dust.

Furthermore, Tucker Carlson’s episodes on Twitter have amassed hundreds of millions of views.  This backs up the findings from the recent polling, providing evidence of Tucker Carlson’s undeniable popularity with conservatives and Republicans.
